Marc Weiszer reports that the UGA Athletic Association Board of Directors will take up two items today: replacing the jumbotron in Sanford Stadium and raising Florida ticket prices by $10.
The big screen probably needs to be replaced. It looked pixelated during the past season, with some sections distractingly lighter than others. It wasn't like that in previous years, so something's probably wrong with it.
According to Weiszer, we installed that screen in 2005. I hope when we install this next multi-million-dollar television, we get one that lasts longer than five years. Arkansas' far superior screen, for example, was installed in 2000. So it can be done.
As for the Florida tickets; yeah, please make me pay $10 extra to watch the most profitable program in the SEC (and No. 2 in the nation) get reamed by the University of Florida.
Update: Weiszer says the board voted to delay the Florida increase to 2012, and to spend $1.4 million on a video board upgrade. They're sticking with the same company that did the current board, though, Daktronics. Here's hoping it gives us a better result this time.

Can the Dawgs beat Florida tonight on ESPN2?
I hope so. Chances to watch the Dawgs on television here in North Carolina are few and far between. Tip off is about 7 p.m.

What to think about Georgia basketball
It's a roller coaster, that's for sure. And the lows have been lower than the highs have been high. Altogether, I think Groo's got the right idea about what to expect:
The rest of the season is going to be a mix of frustration, occasional brilliance, and still more close finishes. They lack a go-to player for those close finishes, and that also won’t change down the stretch. Georgia still has legitimate NCAA Tournament hopes, and we’re just going to have to grind out these last few games and see which ones the Dawgs can take.

Remember: Hartman Fund donations due today
If you want football tickets next season, today's the deadline to make your donation. And if you've never donated before, this might be a good year to do it.
What I don't know could fill a warehouse, but I bet $1,000 or so, after the season we just had, will be enough to get you tickets.

Step One: Don't look like a villain from the future
"In America we need to get things straight. Obama, let's get these kids educated, create jobs so the country stays stimulated."
- will.i.am, The Black Eyed Peas
If you want to broadcast a positive political message during your Super Bowl show, that's fine by me. But you probably shouldn't do it dressed like Zorg from the Fifth Element.
Seriously, I think we all have to question the credibility of a man who wakes up and thinks, "I'm going to wear a clear plastic hat that molds perfectly to my 80s era haircut during biggest public appearance of my career."
One of you is a pop star and one of you is Gary Oldman, but you both look like assholes to me.

Figgins to fullback
So says Seth Emerson.
I like the move. We've got to do a better job of getting our best guys on the field.
