The Woman's Perspective, from DawgSports

Good stuff.
So you showed up on my doorstep last evening with a dozen red roses and a box of Godiva chocolates. I would assume those gifts were to make up for your hideous all-red outfit, although I have to admit you were absolutely adorable while you tried to explain to me with a sort of embarrassed shuffle that your dad's boss had made the suit just for you and that you never argued with your dad's boss. ...

Those sexy gloves rested possessively against my skin, and I knew that this was going to be one of the greatest nights of my life.

Until you trod on my foot. Then bumped into the couple dancing beside us. And then fell on your butt. You stared at me in bewilderment, unable to comprehend why you were on the floor and why the whole room was suddenly staring at you. I wanted to shrink away in embarrassment, but I would never give up on you that easily.

So I helped you up and dusted you off, determined to help you regain your confidence and get rid of those big-party jitters. I whirled and twirled and curled, dancing my hardest for you. I tried to help you, but you always did the most inexplicable things at the worst times. Occasionally, we would be in sync, but those times always seemed accidental ...
It's the "those times always seemed accidental" that I found, perhaps, most accurate.

BACK TO THIS

This is what we are working toward. And The University of Georgia has fallen off.

I say return to awesome. You don't start that against Tennessee and finish by Tuesday, but you damn sure have to start. And I don't care what anyone says from the outside, because I don't care about anything but wins.

To the University of Georgia cheerleader pictured, I apologize for not asking your permission. And to the photographer too, I suppose.

But, ma'am, you're an Internet legend.

Our women have always been the best of us. Especially when we don't tackle.

Look, I realize the team wasn't that good when this photo was taken. It's a metaphor, alright? Either work with me, or start tackling. Greg McGarity seems to know the kind of stuff I'm talking about.

It's time for a female mascot

Bill King has an interesting blog post up for The AJC based on Sonny Seiler's book on the mascot line, Damn Good Dogs!
There have been other subs besides Otto, though, and one of them was a real rarity. All the Ugas have been male and part of the same lineage, but in 1971, when Uga II was ailing, an unrelated brown and white female English bulldog named Bugga Lou that had been given to the Seiler family took Uga’s place for the South Carolina and Florida games, both wins. Bugga Lou wasn’t just an English bulldog, she actually hailed from England originally.
I didn't know that.

But as I've said here before, and I'll be proud to say again, at Georgia our women have always been the best of us. I'd be thrilled if Uga VIII became the university's first full-time female mascot.

May update: UGA still awesome

Updates from The University of Georgia Magazine...

The Seiler family has donated papers from the Uga mascot line to the university. They will be housed in one of the library's special collections, which are partially accessible online, and are awesome.

This one is dedicated to the women of UGA.
----
A UGA professor is studying parasitic worms that cause schistosomiasis and affect 70 percent of people in some African villages. The research may lead to advances in organ transplants and immunosuppressant therapy.
----
As of fall semester, there will be no more in-room phones in University of Georgia dormitories.

Terry College, graduating college of one John W. Fain, was second in the nation in passage rate for the CPA exam in 2007. Wake Forest was No. 1. I pretty much stole the whole story.

Happy Valentines Day from the bikini.

Any of you ladies looking for a small Valentine's Day gift for the man in your life, nothing portrays confidence in your own sex appeal like giving him pictures of super models in bikinis.

By the way, apparently you don't even have to buy the magazine anymore. The Internet gets more impressive every day.

Paging Marisa Miller

Someone asked me yesterday what I wanted in a woman. It seems like a hard question, but really it's not.

All I want is someone who sees right through me.

And also hot.

Sittin' around, waitin' on an airplane
Don't know how to fly, but that's OK
Got me a pilot, and she's going my way
She's got wings, she's got wings

On Georgia Women

Someone wrote something inappropriate in a comment to a post below. I deleted it. I don't know what kind of person it takes to anonymously insult women on a stranger's blog, but the word trash comes to mind, regardless of school affiliation.

I've had a long love affair with the women that gravitate toward the University of Georgia. I have said, more than once, that I'd throw a rock into the student section on game day and, if it hit a girl, marry her in happiness.

Of course, I'm a little old for that now. And she might not be willing, with or without the rock.

I once tried to write a poem about Georgia women. It was pretty much a drunken train wreck. But the sentiment was there:

"Oh, I have to be a Georgia girl today"
And you revel in it, and never hate it
though I know, know your feet hurt

Like a playing card with a sharp, hard edge
like Athens itself
And which one of you makes the other
I do not know

See what I mean? Those are actually the two best stanzas.

So let me just say that in Athens our women have always been the best of us. If they fail, I have no faith.
